And April is recognized as Counseling Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of mental health and support.

Have you felt unusually sad or depressed recently? If so, you may have seasonal affective disorder (SAD). SAD is a type of depression that usually starts in the late fall or early winter. Factors like shorter days, less sunlight, and changes in biological or bodily rhythms may lead to SAD. Millions of Americans are estimated to have SAD. Women are four times more likely than men to be diagnosed with SAD.

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to shed light on the many types of abuse that affect people across all communities. September marks National Recovery Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about substance use treatment and mental health services that help people live healthier lives. The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration shows that in 2021, more than 20 million Americans age 12 or older were in recovery from substance use disorders, highlighting the vital need for support and resources. This month, we honor the strength and resilience of those in recovery and the dedication of the professionals who support them.
