The Fidelis Care Veggies to Go program gave away 150 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables at a June event at the Brockport Area Veterans Club in Monroe County. Veggies to Go addresses food insecurity and nutrition in communities across New York State.
The program is a way for Fidelis Care to start a conversation about food insecurity and connect people with programs and agencies that can help in the longer term.
Veggies to Go events are held across the state in diverse locations, both urban and rural. Fidelis Care works with key distributor partners and local farmers to source fruits and vegetables for the program.
Veggies to Go also provides an opportunity to introduce nutritious snacks to children and help them realize the importance of healthy eating.
Since its debut in August 2022, Veggies to Go has provided more than 57,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to people in communities across the state.
