The Fidelis Care ‘Veggies to Go’ program distributed 1,895 bags of healthy food to individuals and families in need during its 2024 season. That adds up to a total nearly 80,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables given away since the program began in 2022. Veggies to Go addresses nutrition and food insecurity in urban and rural communities across New York State.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, Latinos Unidos of the Hudson Valley recognizes that health issues are some of the most important challenges facing the Hispanic community. Language barriers and lack of information in their native language as well as social stigma deter many Spanish speakers from getting help with their health concerns. That is why Latinos Unidos makes it a top priority to partner with Fidelis Care and other healthcare organizations to make sure that the Hispanic community has access to quality, affordable healthcare.

As someone of Colombian descent, my heritage is rich with traditions, resilience, and identity that live in every aspect of my life. It represents a history that I share widely and allows me to form meaningful connections.
Being Hispanic means to share a history marked by hardship and perseverance. My ancestors’ struggles against oppression and dictatorship are lessons and inspirations that always guide me.
