Fidelis Care Awards The Birthing Place Foundation with Maternal Health Grant In Recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Day Fidelis Care awarded a maternal health grant to The Birthing Place Foundation in the Bronx, NY in recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Day. The grant will support The Birthing Place Foundation’s ongoing efforts in maternal health – particularly to help underserved, lower-income women and their families. The Fidelis Care grant will support The Birthing Place’s Familia Flourish: Breastfeeding and Beyond (FFBB) program, which aims to improve mental health outcomes for postpartum parents, while providing educational and career opportunities for BIPOC birth professionals.   The Fidelis Care ‘Veggies to Go’ program distributed 1,895 bags of healthy food to individuals and families in need during its 2024 season. That adds up to a total nearly 80,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables given away since the program began in 2022. Veggies to Go addresses nutrition and food insecurity in urban and rural communities across New York State. “Nutrition is healthcare,” said Fidelis Care Sales and Marketing Director Shannon Lombardo. “We know that one bag of fresh fruits and vegetables is not going to solve a family’s food insecurity. En vistas del 21 de noviembre, Día Nacional de la Salud Rural, Fidelis Care ha otorgado $128,000 en subvenciones para salud rural a nueve organizaciones comunitarias. Durante este Mes de la Herencia Hispana, Latinos Unidos of the Hudson Valley reconoce que los problemas de salud son algunos de los desafíos más importantes que enfrenta la comunidad hispana. Las barreras idiomáticas y la falta de información en su lengua materna, junto con el estigma social, disuaden a muchos hispanohablantes de obtener ayuda para sus problemas de salud. Por ese motivo, Latinos Unidos tiene como máxima prioridad colaborar con Fidelis Care y otras organizaciones sanitarias para asegurarse de que la comunidad hispana tenga acceso a atención médica asequible y de calidad.
