Behavioral health is an important part of overall health and well-being. Behavioral health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.

For good behavioral health, it's recommended to:

  • Visit a health care provider regularly
  • Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
  • Eat healthy and exercise regularly
  • Sleep enough
  • Learn positive ways to cope with stress

Behavioral health concerns include:

  • Anxiety
  • Controlling high blood pressure and living with a severe and persistent mental illness
⮕ Such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Postpartum depression
  • Substance use disorder

Behavioral health concerns can be developed at any age.

Warning signs include:
  • Constant sadness or hopelessness
  • Using too much alcohol or drugs
  • Drastic changes in eating or sleeping
  • Aches, headaches, or stomach problems without a clear cause
  • Avoiding others
  • Thoughts of suicide or harming yourself
