Fidelis Care and Hometown Health Centers Team Up for Health Insurance Renewal Event
10/24/2023 • Posted by Fidelis Care in In The Community, Renewal

Fidelis Care and health care provider Hometown Health Centers recently partnered for an event to educate the public about a major change in the health insurance renewal process.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government provided New York State with additional funding to keep individuals covered under Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Essential Plan, and Managed Long Term Care. With the federal public health emergency now ended, those individuals must take action to keep their health insurance.

About nine million New Yorkers, including nearly 21,000 Hometown Health Centers patients and two million Fidelis Care members, may be impacted by the change.

To raise awareness and encourage members and patients to act, Fidelis Care and Hometown Health Centers held a health insurance renewal information event at Hometown’s Schenectady location. Christopher White, Fidelis Care Sales and Marketing Director, and Julie Bazzell, Hometown Health Centers Chief Operating Officer, spoke about the importance of people maintaining their health coverage.

White said, “It is important to note that if people on impacted health plans do not take action to renew, they risk losing coverage. Fidelis Care can be found across the Capital Region. Our representatives are here to walk you through every step of the process. Visit one of our community offices or a Fidelis Care StreetSide RV location, give us a call, or go to fideliscare.org whether you’ve already started the process and need help finishing it, or if you have any questions about benefits. Our experienced Health Benefit Representatives can work with you to find quality, affordable health insurance.”

Bazzell said, “Hometown Health Centers and Fidelis Care are longtime partners in providing healthcare to the Schenectady and Amsterdam communities. Hometown finds the health insurance renewal process to be especially important to maintain coverage for continuous access to medical, dental, and behavioral health services. Access to medications is also a big part of renewing health insurance. Not having an interruption in your coverage is critical for filling your prescriptions. The continuity of care goes hand-in-hand with the continuity of coverage.”

Those interested in learning more about health insurance renewals can visit the Fidelis Care website at fideliscare.org/renew or call 1-866-435-9521 (TTY: 711) Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 6 PM.
