十一月是早產宣傳月，宣傳重點是早產以及早產給嬰兒和寶媽帶來的健康問題。 早產的定義是什麼？ 通常滿40週分娩即為足月妊娠。早產兒指的是妊娠不足37週出生的嬰兒。美國出生缺陷基金會2024年的一份報告顯示，每年有10分之1的寶寶屬於早產兒。通常人們並不瞭解，早產兒不僅表現為體型較小，其實這些寶寶還存在很多其他問題，例如肺部發育不成熟和發育遲緩。離開媽媽的子宮後，這些寶寶的繼續發育需要更長時間的住院觀察，且更有可能需要特別護理。這些早產兒需要在醫院的新生兒重症監護病房（縮寫為「NICU」）接受護理。
